Maguire sets his terms to stay
The England international is unwilling to sign a new deal without sporting guarantees.
"I think we’ll reach an agreement that’s best for the club and for myself. (…) But I think it will be sorted sooner or later," he revealed.
He then added:
"Yes, I love this club. But it has to be right for me, it has to be right for the club as well. I don’t want to stay just for sentimental reasons."
More than just a contract, Maguire is demanding a central role in the club’s project:
"I want to stay because I want to be here and because the club wants me to help move things forward. (…) And if that’s the case, I’m sure we’ll sit down and reach an agreement."
A clear stance, which now puts the ball firmly in Manchester United’s court.
