Mercato: Sunderland gives Habib Diarra a fine gift after his arrival
Habib Diarra

A few days after his transfer to Sunderland from Strasbourg, Habib Diarra has received a generous gift. The Premier League club is said to have tripled the Senegalese midfielder’s salary.

This summer, Sunderland, the English club newly promoted to the Premier League, pulled off a major signing with the arrival of Habib Diarra. And according to D Sports, the Premier League newcomers have put a substantial financial package on the table. Diarra was earning €110,000 per month at Strasbourg.

However, Sunderland has tripled his salary to around €330,000 (£282,000) per month. This figure puts him among the club’s highest earners—possibly even the top earner—at around £70,000 per week.

Last season, Habib Diarra was outstanding in Ligue 1. He scored 7 goals in 2,969 minutes for Strasbourg, averaging 0.21 goals every 90 minutes. By comparison, Jobe Bellingham netted 5 goals in 4,363 minutes for Sunderland last season, for an average of just 0.10 goals per 90 minutes.
