Official: Al Ahly to face Barcelona in the Joan Gamper Trophy 2026

This clash comes as the African giant seeks to test itself against the world's elite. After an official Al Ahly delegation visited Spain, the agreement was made public through a statement on social media. With Al Ahly absent from this season's CAF Champions League, the Cairo club is determined to secure the Egyptian Premier League title quickly and return to its favorite continental competition. For Al Ahly, this is a prime opportunity to leave a global mark as well.

What is the Joan Gamper Trophy?

This annual event is organized by Barcelona. The Joan Gamper Trophy serves as an occasion to present the first team to the fans before the new season kicks off. Established in 1966 with four participating teams, since 1997 it has become a showdown between just two clubs.
