A major step forward for Ibrahim Junior Fofana. After five seasons at Amiens, the 22-year-old Ivorian midfielder has signed a four-year contract with KVC Westerlo, who play in the Belgian top flight. The club made the news official on Wednesday through its channels.

A long-term commitment

Ibrahim Junior Fofana has penned a four-year deal, tying him to Westerlo until 2029. After his stint in France and Ligue 2, the Ivorian midfielder will now test himself at the top level of Belgian football.

From Ligue 2 to the Jupiler Pro League

Having arrived at Amiens SC in 2022, Fofana first played for the reserve team before breaking into the first team. He made 57 Ligue 2 appearances and signed his first professional contract in the summer of 2023. Despite struggling with injuries for much of his time, he leaves the Picardy club even though he was under contract until 2027.

He now joins Westerlo, a side playing in the Belgian top division. Ibrahim Junior will have the chance to debut in his new colors as soon as next season. Westerlo will kick off their 2026-2027 campaign on August 8th against Union Saint-Gilloise, last season's Belgian runners-up.
