Official: Wilfried Kanga signs with Gent until 2028

Wilfried Kanga leaves Dinamo Zagreb and officially makes his return to Belgium. The Ivorian striker has signed a three-year contract with Gent, strengthening the Buffalos' attack under Ivan Leko's guidance.

The rumor of his move to Ghent had been circulating for several days. Now it’s official. The announcement came on the evening of Sunday, June 22, after the final medical checks. Although he had signed with Dinamo Zagreb until 2027, the 27-year-old packed his bags again after just six months with the Croatian club.

"With his physical presence and great power in duels, Kanga is a classic center forward—the kind of striker our squad was missing. The Ivorian is no stranger to Belgian football. During the 2023-2024 season, he played for Standard, where he was a key player with 12 goals. Kanga has also previously worked with coach Ivan Leko," Gent stated in its official press release.
