Orlando Pirates claimed a narrow 1-0 victory over struggling Siwelele FC in a Betway Premiership encounter at Toyota Stadium on Tuesday.

Oswin Appollis, who came on as a second half substitute, sparked the Buccaneers to victory as he scored the only goal of the match in the 80th minute.

Pirates moved up to fourth place on the Betway Premiership standings, having accumulated 12 points in their first six league outings.

Furthermore, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s men have now won four league games in a row following back-to-back defeats in their first two matches.

Meanwhile, the result compounded misery for Siwelele, who extended their winless run to seven games after the Bucs defeat.

Lehlohonolo Seema’s side has lost three matches on the trot, with their last victory dating back to the opening weekend in August.

The Bloemfontein-based outfit dropped to 15th place on the table as they have collected four points from eight league matches.

Siwelele will be keen to get back to winning ways when they tackle Marumo Gallants in the Bloemfontein derby in their next league outing on Sunday.
