Real Madrid: Yan Diomandé provides his first assist for Kylian Mbappé!
Better late than never. Handed a start against Elche, Yan Diomandé made his first decisive contribution of the season in a Real Madrid shirt.
The breakthrough has finally arrived for Yan Diomandé. Starting on the right side of the Real Madrid attack for the trip to Elche in La Liga, the Ivory Coast international made a decisive impact for the first time since his arrival in Madrid.
Played in perfectly by Federico Valverde behind the defence, Diomandé looked up before sending a driven ball into the box. Well positioned, Kylian Mbappé only had to guide the ball into the back of the net to score Madrid’s second goal of the evening.
A first breakthrough that could change everything
This assist comes at the perfect time for the Ivorian winger, who is still adapting after a difficult start to the season. Highly anticipated because of the significant fee Real Madrid invested this summer, Diomandé was looking for precisely this first decisive contribution capable of boosting his confidence.
Before him, Arda Güler had opened the scoring with a superb free kick in the 25th minute. The Turkish player took advantage of a foul won by Valverde near the box to find the far post, with the help of the upright.
Ivory Coast in sight
This first assist could definitively get Diomandé’s season underway. The 19-year-old now hopes to string together attacking contributions and, perhaps, quickly open his goalscoring account.
He will then rejoin Ivory Coast during the next international break. Logically called up by Hervé Renard, the Elephants’ head coach, Diomandé will arrive on international duty with greater confidence after finally making a decisive impact for Real Madrid.
