Rodri's departure: Pep Guardiola speaks out

Rodri’s future continues to fuel speculation, especially regarding a possible move to Real Madrid. The Manchester City midfielder has never ruled out such a challenge.

Asked about the situation, Pep Guardiola was candid: “No player would turn down the chance to play for Real Madrid. I completely understand.”

The Catalan manager, however, added some perspective:

“He was born in Spain so I’ve always wanted Rodri to stay here as long as possible, because he’s an incredible player, world-class, but everyone is master of their own destiny. I know the club wants him to stay. They’ve told me so about Rodri. I think he could stay. I remain optimistic, but in the end, I don’t know.”
