Mahmoud Trézéguet opened his scoring account for Al-Riyadh this Tuesday. The Egyptian forward broke the deadlock against Al-Shabab in the 32nd minute, marking his third appearance for the Saudi club.

It took just three matches for Mahmoud Trézéguet to find the net for Al-Riyadh. Starting against Al-Shabab, the Egyptian international gave his team the lead in the 32nd minute, finishing a move that put his new club in the driver's seat. However, Al-Riyadh's advantage lasted only four minutes, as the match was leveled soon after, keeping the contest wide open.

This goal is a fitting reward for the Egyptian's early days in the Saudi league. Having joined Al-Riyadh on August 11, Trézéguet arrived as a free agent after ending his stint with Al-Ahly. The transfer involved no fee, allowing the Saudi side to secure a player with significant international pedigree without any financial outlay.

A new chapter after Al-Ahly

Before his move, Trézéguet returned to his boyhood club Al-Ahly after several years abroad. During his first spell with the Cairo giants, he tallied 18 goals and nine assists in 75 appearances and played a key role in the club’s African Champions League triumphs in 2012 and 2013.

His career then took him to Belgium with Anderlecht and Mouscron, followed by a standout stint in Turkey with Kasımpaşa. He has also played for Aston Villa in the Premier League, Istanbul Başakşehir, Trabzonspor, and Al-Rayyan in Qatar. Notably, with Trabzonspor, he racked up 23 goals and 11 assists in 70 matches.

At 31, Trézéguet brings a wealth of experience from top leagues and international competitions to Al-Riyadh. His debut goal is an encouraging sign for what promises to be an exciting chapter in his Saudi adventure.
