Spain: Luis de la Fuente decides not to look too far ahead

This Monday, Luis de la Fuente officially extended his contract with Spain, the 2026 world champions, until 2032.

Having been crowned European champions in 2024 and world champions in 2026, Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has the full confidence of his superiors. “The Board of Directors of the Spanish Royal Football Federation, chaired by Rafael Louzán and meeting at the Football City in Las Rozas, unanimously approved the extension of the contract of the national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, who will remain at the helm of the RFEF until 2032. This decision follows the success of the Spanish national team at the 2026 World Cup, where Spain won the world title,” the Spanish federation announced.

Although he signed a new long-term contract this Monday, the Spanish coach refuses to look too far ahead. "In football, we know that everything is very fragile. We can have many long-term plans, but for my part, I am focusing on the short term. We have to take it day by day. I am looking forward to the 2030 World Cup, but also to Euro 2032. We will give everything to achieve that," De la Fuente told the media.
