Trabzonspor: Recep Tayyip Erdoğan wants to host Mohamed Salah in Ankara
Mohamed Salah could soon be received by Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the presidential complex in Ankara.
Mohamed Salah’s impact in Turkey is already extending far beyond the football pitch. According to information relayed by WinWin, citing Turkish outlet 61 Saat, the Egyptian star’s name came up during a recent official visit involving Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan, his board of directors and Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
During the meeting, Erdoğan, who is known to follow football closely, reportedly asked specifically about the former Liverpool forward. Doğan then told him that Salah had personally expressed an interest in meeting him. The Turkish president reacted positively and is said to have instructed officials to arrange the meeting as soon as possible.
Presidential reception expected in Ankara
An initial plan was reportedly considered around Erdoğan’s scheduled visits to Rize and Samsun. However, the president’s busy agenda and Trabzonspor’s trip for their next league fixture against Konyaspor prevented the meeting from taking place during that window.
The meeting has not been cancelled, according to the same report, but merely postponed. Erdoğan is expected to host Salah at the Presidential Complex in Ankara once a suitable date can be found.
Salah already delivering for Trabzonspor
The 34-year-old joined Trabzonspor on a free transfer this summer after leaving Liverpool and signed a two-year contract running until 2028. His impact has been immediate, with Salah already scoring four goals in six competitive appearances for the Turkish club, all four coming in the Süper Lig.
In Trabzonspor’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Gençlerbirliği on September 6, Salah scored from the penalty spot and also provided an assist, further strengthening his impressive start in Turkey.
Salah’s influence at Trabzonspor has already extended beyond performances on the pitch, with his arrival generating major commercial and fan interest around the club.
After four league matches, Trabzonspor sit fourth in the Süper Lig with seven points, behind Galatasaray, Beşiktaş and Kocaelispor. They have recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat, scoring nine goals and conceding four.
