Espanyol Barcelona has ramped up its activity in the transfer market ahead of the summer window, reportedly setting its sights on the young Algerian forward Amin Chiakha, whose name is gaining traction across Europe despite limited appearances for the senior national team.

According to Spanish media sources, the Barcelona club is closely monitoring the development of 19-year-old Amin Chiakha and is considering bringing him in on loan during the upcoming transfer window. Renowned journalist Pedro de Zarate reports that Espanyol’s management views Chiakha as a striker for the future, someone to be developed in a more competitive environment.

On the international stage, Chiakha is experiencing a challenging period. He has struggled to make his mark under Swiss head coach Vladimir Petkovic. Absent from the recent friendly against Sweden (a 4-3 defeat), he played only a few minutes in the previous match versus Rwanda, which the Greens won 2-0.

Petkovic's tactical choices appear to favor more mobile and creative profiles, such as Amine Gouiri or Mohamed El Amine Amoura. In contrast, Chiakha operates as a more traditional center-forward, focusing on positioning and clinical finishing inside the box.

It is worth noting that the young Algerian enjoyed a promising season with FC Copenhagen in Denmark. In his first full campaign with the senior squad, he featured in 36 matches across all competitions, netting 11 goals and providing 3 assists. His contributions were instrumental in helping his club achieve a league and cup double.
