Transfer window: Ounahi turns down €12m offer from Spartak Moscow!
The future of Azzedine Ounahi (25) at Olympique de Marseille appears more uncertain than ever. After returning from a successful loan spell at Panathinaikos, the Moroccan international midfielder is not part of new manager Roberto De Zerbi’s plans.
With this in mind, OM recently received an official offer from Spartak Moscow, valued at €12 million. The Marseille board considered the proposal a good one, especially since the Russian club had agreed to pay the full amount in a single, immediate installment.
Why did Ounahi reject Spartak Moscow’s offer?
But against all expectations, Ounahi personally turned down this attractive offer, which included an annual salary of €2.5 million.
The player explained his refusal by stating his ambition to continue his career in a more competitive European league—one that matches his personal goals and desire for development.
This rejection is a blow for OM, who were counting on this sale to move forward confidently in the summer transfer window.
It’s worth noting that club president Pablo Longoria has set Ounahi’s price tag at around €12 million, and several European clubs have already shown interest.
