by the Elephants at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. Côte d’Ivoire lead 3-0 against Burkina Faso at the break, delivering a flawless start to this TotalEnergies CAF Women's AFCON 2026.

A thunderous start from the Elephants

Burkina Faso got off to a disastrous start. As early as the 7th minute, the Stallions Ladies conceded a penalty converted by Rebecca Elloh. 1-0. The path was set. Côte d’Ivoire hammered home a second in the 14th minute through Inès Konan. The same Inès Konan struck again in the 22nd minute to secure a brace and make it 3-0. In just 45 minutes, the Elephants wrapped up the match and showcased all their ambitions after a 12-year absence from the AFCON. With this emphatic scoreline, the Ivorians temporarily seize the top spot in Group B.

Burkina Faso up against the wall

A nightmare for the Stallions Ladies. Outplayed in every area of the pitch, they’ll need a rapid response to avoid sinking further. The road ahead looks tough. Their next challenge is Tanzania, who earlier pulled off a shock by defeating South Africa 2-1 and now share the group lead with Côte d’Ivoire.

With this XXL first half, Côte d’Ivoire sends a strong message to the rest of Group B.
