Already trailing 3-0 at halftime, the Burkinabè couldn't turn things around in the second half. The nightmare resumed right after the break. Goalkeeper Faoziatou Ouédraogo was shown a straight red card in the 52nd minute for a foul outside her box—a crushing blow for the Stallions Ladies. Moments later, Côte d’Ivoire hammered the point home. Safi Ouedraogo netted the Ivorians' fourth goal in the 55th minute, putting the game beyond all doubt.

Down to 10 players, Burkina Faso showed a different side. Better organized, they salvaged some pride through the experienced Adama Congo, who pulled one back in the 60th minute. Final score: 4-1. But with a brace from Inès Konan and the clinical finishing of Rebecca Elloh, the Ivorians had already wrapped things up in the first half. The Elephants now lead Group B with 3 points and a +3 goal difference, just ahead of Tanzania, who stunned South Africa 2-1.

Regrets for Burkina Faso

Real regrets for Pascal Sawadogo and his staff. Burkina Faso looked freer with ten players than with eleven, but the damage was already done.
