Tunisia's woes did not end after their disappointing campaign at the World Cup

The Carthage Eagles finished the tournament in 47th place, having lost all three of their group stage matches, conceding 12 goals while scoring only 2.

An off-field scandal has now compounded this sporting failure. According to the Daily Mail, no fewer than eight players tested positive for clenbuterol, a substance listed among the banned products by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).

The same source, however, reports that it is unlikely FIFA will open disciplinary proceedings against these players, as all indications suggest the positive tests were the result of contamination from consuming local meat at their residence in Monterrey, Mexico.

It turns out that this substance is frequently used by Mexican livestock farmers to increase cattle muscle mass.
