The Democratic Republic of Congo was defeated and eliminated 2-1 by England in the Round of 16, but goalkeeper Lionel Mbaisi was undoubtedly the standout star. For much of the match, he was an impenetrable wall against the Three Lions, and especially against Harry Kane.

Harry Kane said after the match: "Congratulations to the Congolese goalkeeper! He pulled off some incredible saves!"

Overall, Mbaisi made five saves and came off his line brilliantly on several occasions. He thwarted attempts from both Kane and Bellingham throughout the match, denying the English on numerous shots.

The Leopards collapsed in the final quarter-hour. Ultimately, Kane, who had been frustrated up to that point, managed to score twice and lead England into the next round.
