Spain were held to a goalless draw by Cape Verde (0-0) on Monday in their opening Group H match of the 2026 World Cup. Rodri spoke out after the final whistle.

Despite his team's struggles in attack, Spanish captain Rodri refused to panic.

"We couldn't get the win, but there’s not much to blame the team for. We knew patience would be key in this match. They sat deep, we created chances, but just couldn't find the net. It's tough against such a physical and well-organized side. The positive is that they barely threatened us, but we need to be more clinical in front of goal," the midfielder told La 1.

Spain will need to bounce back against Saudi Arabia next Sunday.
