Al-Nassr: Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly set to leave as early as January!

Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Al-Nassr is once again under scrutiny after a highly notable statement from Saud Al-Sarami in Saudi Arabia.

At 41, could Cristiano Ronaldo be spending his final months in an Al-Nassr shirt? Saud Al-Sarami, a Saudi journalist and former club spokesperson, reignited speculation surrounding the Portuguese star during a podcast broadcast on Al Arabiya Sports.

“Cristiano has become a spent force for Al-Nassr, and I believe he will leave during the winter transfer window,” he said.

At this stage, this is a personal opinion rather than a decision announced by the club, but the statement comes as CR7’s future continues to fuel debate in the Saudi Pro League.

132 goals and two trophies with Al-Nassr

Having arrived in Riyadh at the beginning of 2023, Ronaldo has maintained impressive efficiency. He currently has 132 goals for Al-Nassr in all competitions. Last May, he finally won the Saudi Arabian championship, after finishing the 2025-2026 season with 28 league goals.

His trophy haul with the club now stands at two: the Arab Club Champions Cup, won in 2023, and the 2025-2026 Saudi Pro League title. A few months earlier, the Portuguese star had also passed the 100-goal mark in the Saudi league.

Just 21 goals short of 1,000

Ronaldo is simultaneously pursuing one of the final major statistical goals of his career: reaching 1,000 official goals. His goal against Abha on September 9 took his total to 979 goals for club and country. He therefore needs just 21 more goals to reach this historic milestone.

A potential departure in January would therefore open an unexpected new chapter in the final stages of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner’s career. For now, however, Al-Nassr has not communicated any intention to part ways with its captain.
