Algeria: injured regular ruled out of the World Cup!

Anthony Mandréa will miss the 2026 World Cup after suffering a shoulder injury—a confirmed absence that deals a real blow to Algeria.

The verdict is in for Anthony Mandréa. The SM Caen goalkeeper will not take part in the 2026 World Cup, forced to undergo surgery after a shoulder injury has brought his season to an abrupt end.

Speaking at a press conference, Gaël Clichy confirmed the news without mincing words:

“Anthony Mandrea will have surgery on Wednesday, his season is over. The World Cup is out of reach. He’s accepted it—sometimes, there’s just nothing you can do.”

Despite the disappointment, the coach tried to put things into perspective:

“I’m a very positive person, so I told him that when some doors close, it often means others will open a bit later.”

He added:

“I can only feel disappointed for him, because I know exactly what he’s missing out on. But there are great things ahead—he’s still young. If he chooses the right club in the future and keeps performing, he could still play in two more World Cups.”
