Arsenal: conditions set for Victor Osimhen
Under contract until 2029, the Nigerian striker will have to make a significant financial sacrifice if he hopes to join the English champions.
Arsenal are still looking to bolster their attack before the transfer window closes, with just days remaining in this summer market. Despite the arrival of Viktor Gyökeres, Mikel Arteta wants to create real competition for the number nine position. With the Julián Álvarez option looking unlikely, the English champions are maintaining their interest in Victor Osimhen. Talks have already started with Galatasaray, though no official agreement has been announced yet.
A salary sacrifice demanded by Arsenal
According to Foot Mercato, the London club is refusing to match the Nigerian's current wages, which exceed €20 million net per season. With a contract running until June 2029, Osimhen will need to accept a significant pay cut to make the move to Arsenal. The Gunners are keen to maintain their wage structure while keeping enough financial flexibility to cover the transfer fee demanded by Galatasaray.
A financial risk despite his output
This caution does not diminish the sporting appeal of the deal. Osimhen netted 22 goals and provided eight assists in 33 appearances last season—30 goal involvements, averaging nearly one per match. His brace in the season opener also confirms his fine form. But a salary above €20 million net would complicate the dressing room dynamics, especially for a player expected to compete with Gyökeres rather than secure an untouchable status.
The decision now rests with the 27-year-old forward. Staying at Galatasaray would guarantee his current salary and Champions League football, while a move would allow him to experience the Premier League. Having already remained cautious about rumors linking him to London, Osimhen will need to lower his demands before Arsenal can turn their interest into a truly viable offer.
