After three seasons with Atlético Madrid, Axel Witsel turns the page... but doesn't leave La Liga. The 36-year-old Belgian centre-back has officially signed with Girona FC.

This summer saw a major shakeup at Atlético, with Ángel Correa, César Azpilicueta, and Rodrigo De Paul all departing. Witsel, also set to move on, decided to continue his career in Catalonia, just a few hundred kilometers from the Spanish capital.

Having previously played for Zenit Saint Petersburg, Benfica, and Borussia Dortmund, the Belgian international brings his experience and tactical awareness to Girona. It's a major coup for the Catalan club, who now boast a player well-versed in European competitions and high-stakes matches.
