Bad news for Hakim Ziyech

Hakim Ziyech's transfer to CFR Cluj is off. The Romanian club has decided to drop the pursuit of the Moroccan international due to his physical issues.

Free since the end of his contract with Al-Duhail SC, Ziyech was hoping to bounce back in Romania after difficult spells at Galatasaray and in Qatar. But Cluj president Ioan Varga explained his decision:

We can't take such a risk. He has a problem with his left knee. He's a good player, but I can't invest that much money in a player who could get injured.

Ziyech, 32, had reportedly shown a strong desire to join Cluj, to the point where his children were already enrolled in a school in Romania. A real blow.
