Real Sociedad: Job Ochieng Scores, Provides Two Assists and Sets a Record Against Elche
Job Ochieng made a strong impression in La Liga on Monday. In his second appearance for Real Sociedad’s first team, the Kenyan forward scored his first professional goal and provided two assists in the 3-2 victory away at Elche. His performance also earned him the Man of the Match award.
Ochieng gave Real Sociedad the perfect start in the first half. The Kenyan opened the scoring with a powerful strike, registering his first goal for the senior team. A few minutes later, he was once again involved in the second goal. Taking advantage of a communication error between Pedro Bigas and Matías Dituro, he won the ball before setting up Yangel Herrera, who doubled the visitors’ lead.
Involved in all three goals
Ochieng continued his impressive attacking display by also playing a part in Real Sociedad’s third goal. With one goal and two assists, he was directly involved in all three of his team’s goals.
At 23 years and 233 days old, the Kenyan became the youngest Real Sociedad player to be involved in three goals in a single La Liga match since Alexander Isak, who achieved the same feat against Alavés in February 2021 at 21 years and 153 days.
The achievement is even more remarkable considering that Ochieng has made only two appearances for the first team.
A second appearance to remember
The young forward made his first-team debut when Real Sociedad travelled to the Santiago Bernabéu to face Real Madrid. For his second outing at senior level, he was handed a starting place against Elche and immediately became one of the key figures in his team’s victory.
With his first professional goal, two assists and the Man of the Match award, Job Ochieng produced a particularly memorable performance at the beginning of his senior career.
For Real Sociedad, the 3-2 victory secured three points away from home. For Ochieng, it could well be remembered as the night he truly announced himself on the La Liga stage.
