Ballon d'Or 2026: "Lamine Yamal will try his luck," says Hansi Flick
Lamine Yamal

Hansi Flick sees Lamine Yamal as a contender for the 2026 Ballon d'Or.

Eighth in 2024 and now runner-up in 2025, just behind Ousmane Dembélé, Lamine Yamal is edging ever closer to the Ballon d'Or. Will 2026 finally be his year? One thing's for sure: the Spanish international will be aiming for glory once again. That's exactly what Hans-Dieter Flick, Barcelona's head coach, believes.

"We can't change the Ballon d'Or result, but Lamine Yamal will try his luck again next season. It's important for him and for all the players," the German manager said at a press conference on Sunday night.

To keep his Ballon d'Or 2026 dream alive, Lamine Yamal will need to win the Champions League with Barça—and perhaps even the World Cup with Spain.
