Bayer Leverkusen: Victor Boniface joins Werder Bremen on loan
Victor Boniface / Bayer Leverkusen

Victor Boniface has officially joined SV Werder Bremen this Monday, September 1, 2025. The Nigerian forward is temporarily leaving Bayer Leverkusen to sign with the Green-Whites of Bremen. Peter Niemeyer, Werder's sporting director, confirmed the move as a season-long loan with no purchase option.

Werder Bremen finalized the deal on the last day of the German summer transfer window. Negotiations between the two Bundesliga clubs progressed swiftly to allow the Nigerian international to join Bremen's squad before the transfer market closed.

"We are delighted to have completed this loan and to be able to count on Victor's services. He has delivered outstanding performances in the Bundesliga and showcased all his qualities. We are convinced he can continue to develop here with us," said Peter Niemeyer.

A chance for more playing time

For Victor Boniface, this loan to Werder Bremen offers a valuable opportunity to secure regular minutes on the pitch. Despite some strong performances at Leverkusen, fierce competition among the German champions' squad limited his chances to start. The center-forward will now play in an environment where his finishing abilities can be fully utilized. Werder is counting on his proven goal-scoring pedigree to add verticality and threat to their attacking play.

This signing is a significant boost for Werder's attack, as the club looked to strengthen its offensive line. Boniface's Bundesliga experience and familiarity with German football are major assets for Bremen's ambitions.
