He had announced his ambitions with Cameroon. A few hours later, Danny Namaso took them further on the pitch with an assist and a goal in the Indomitable Lions’ 3-1 victory over Comoros.

Danny Namaso first made his mark as a creator. He provided the assist for Cameroon’s opening goal, scored by Nyengue in the 39th minute, before turning finisher to score the third goal and give his side a 3-1 lead. The forward had a direct impact on the result.

A role announced, then fulfilled

The day before the match, Foot Africa had published an article about the attacking trio of Bryan Mbeumo, Danny Namaso and Christian Kofane. The analysis presented Namaso as a player capable of operating deeper, between midfield and attack, with a role in building play while retaining the ability to make runs into the box.

Against Comoros, he occupied both roles. First providing the assist for Nyengue, he then made his way into the box to finish himself. This combination of creation and finishing gave concrete substance to the role assigned to him before the match.

Ambitions stated before being put into action

Namaso had also discussed his goals with the Cameroon national team, notably his ambition to see the Indomitable Lions win the next Africa Cup of Nations.

His performance against Comoros obviously does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about the rest of the campaign. Nevertheless, it provides an initial answer on the pitch. With an assist and a goal, the forward made a direct contribution to Cameroon’s success.

In his first major fixture after stating his ambitions, Namaso therefore delivered in both attacking roles: setting up a teammate, then finishing himself.
