The second matchday in Group I has delivered its verdict: France and Norway have booked their tickets to the round of 16, while Senegal still clings to a slim hope of continuing their World Cup adventure.

Senegal suffered a second consecutive defeat at the 2026 World Cup, falling to Norway (3-2), while France cruised past Iraq (3-0). As a result, both Les Bleus and the Scandinavians have officially punched their tickets to the knockout stage.

However, the Lions of Teranga are not mathematically eliminated yet. They still have a faint chance of qualifying as one of the best third-placed teams, but they will need to beat Iraq by a large margin in the final matchday and hope for favorable results elsewhere.
