Bamidele Yusuf made a major contribution to Ferencváros' 3-1 victory away to Celtic Glasgow on Thursday, September 17, 2026, on the opening matchday of the Europa League league phase. The Nigerian forward scored the first Hungarian goal before providing two assists for Kristoffer Zachariassen and Daniel Arzani.

Yusuf opened the scoring in the 20th minute. After moving over to the right flank, he unleashed a low diagonal shot that took a deflection before finding the back of the Celtic net. The goal is credited to Yusuf in the match data consulted.

The Nigerian then played a part in Ferencváros' two other goals. In first-half stoppage time, he set up Kristoffer Zachariassen, who put the visitors back in front. Shortly after the restart, Yusuf made the difference again by sending a long diagonal pass to Daniel Arzani, who scored the third Hungarian goal.

With one goal and two assists, Yusuf was therefore directly involved in all three of Ferencváros' goals in Glasgow.

Continuity after his first European season

This performance continues his progress with Ferencváros. Having joined the Hungarian club from Vojvodina in August 2025, Yusuf had already made his mark in the Europa League during the 2025-2026 season.

He made 11 appearances in the competition, scoring three goals and providing three assists. His goals against Panathinaikos and Ludogorets were among the highlights of his European campaign with the Budapest club.

Ferencváros reached the Europa League round of 16 during that campaign. Yusuf played his part in that run and cemented his place among the attacking players used by the Hungarian club on the European stage.

A successful new European beginning

Yusuf had also started the 2026-2027 season with positive attacking statistics before the trip to Glasgow. In particular, he had found the net during the Europa League qualifying rounds.

His performance against Celtic primarily allows him to launch the new league phase on a particularly productive note. In 90 minutes, he played a part in all three of Ferencváros' goals and was involved in several important attacking moves.

Still without a first Nigeria cap

Despite his performances for Ferencváros, Bamidele Yusuf is still waiting for his first appearance for the Super Eagles. His European performances have already attracted attention in Nigeria, where several media outlets reported in 2026 that his profile was being monitored by head coach Eric Chelle.

This performance in Glasgow adds another reference to his case. Yusuf will now have to maintain this momentum with Ferencváros if he hopes to be included in Nigeria's squad for the next international fixtures.
