FC Barcelona: the club secures its new prodigy! (Official)
One of the revelations of the early season, Xavi Espart has extended his contract with Barça until 2030 after establishing himself in the first team.
FC Barcelona are securing one of their most promising young talents. The Catalan club announced that they had reached an agreement with Xavi Espart on a contract extension until 30 June 2030.
The official signing of the new deal is expected to take place in the club’s offices in the coming days, in the presence of president Joan Laporta. The player is then expected to speak to the media after the ceremony.
A rapid rise from La Masia
Having joined La Masia in the summer of 2015, Espart gradually climbed through the ranks before reaching the first team. He made his debut in March 2026 against Newcastle at St James’ Park, in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
During the 2025-2026 season, the young player made 6 appearances for the senior side and also won La Liga, his first trophy with the first team. Since 27 August, he has officially been part of the senior squad.
Already making a decisive contribution this season
At 19, Espart has quickly established himself as one of the revelations of the early season. Used at left-back despite initially being trained on the right, he has already made 5 appearances in all competitions, with 1 goal and 2 assists.
His performances have earned him Hansi Flick’s trust and enabled him to gradually establish himself in the starting XI. Barça therefore chose to act quickly to secure his future.
The message published by the club perfectly sums up this intention: “The future belongs to him, and he is blaugrana.”
