Gianni Infantino loses yet another supporter
Gianni Infantino continues to face mounting opposition. The Israel Football Association (IFA) has announced that it is now withdrawing its support for the FIFA president.
Israel changes its stance
In a letter sent to FIFA, IFA president Moshe Zuares confirmed this shift. "We have no choice but to withdraw our previous support," he wrote, expressing hope that dialogue could eventually restore a shared vision for the future of world football.
This decision comes just days after the departure of Kevin Lamour, FIFA's former director of operations, who had publicly criticized several of Infantino’s initiatives.
Growing opposition
Israel is not the first federation to distance itself from the Swiss leader. UEFA continues to threaten a boycott of certain FIFA competitions. Several national federations, including Sweden, Wales, England, Jordan, and Norway, have also withdrawn their support.
This wave of opposition further weakens Infantino as he aims to continue his tenure at the helm of world football’s governing body. The key question now is whether this dissent will remain confined to a handful of federations or continue to spread ahead of FIFA’s upcoming elections.
