Elye Wahi has quietly begun the administrative steps that could signal a significant shift in his international future. The 23-year-old Nice forward, who has represented France at every youth level from Under-16 to Under-21, is now pursuing a path that may lead him away from Les Bleus.
According to reports, Wahi recently visited the Consulate General of Ivory Coast to begin the process of obtaining an Ivorian biometric passport—the country of his parents’ origin.
With the 2026 World Cup now just three months away, the timing of the move has drawn attention and is widely interpreted as an indication that the striker is preparing to switch his sporting allegiance to the Elephants.
