Kaizer Chiefs beat Kabuscorp on penalties to progress to CAFCC 2nd round
Kaizer Chiefs progressed to the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup after beating Kabuscorp 5-4 on penalties at FNB Stadium on Saturday
The Soweto giants had to dig deep as they came into the return leg a goal down, with Glody Lilepo scoring the crucial goal in the first half.
Kabuscorp kept Chiefs at bay for the remainder of the match, forcing a penalty shootout to decide who advances to the next round after a 1-1 draw on aggregate.
Chiefs will face the winner between Djabal FC of Comoros and AS Simba Kamikaze of DR Congo for a spot in the group stages.
Amakhosi returned to continental football by virtue of winning the Nedbank Cup at the expense of bitter rivals Orlando Pirates in May.
This is the first time Chiefs play in a CAF Inter-club competition since their Champions League final defeat to Al Ahly in the 2020/21 season.
