Max Gradel: former Elephants captain appointed ambassador!
Almost a year after hanging up his boots with the national team, the former captain of the Ivory Coast Elephants, Max-Alain Gradel, receives a new honor in his country.
In March 2024, the Ivorian maestro, now 37, ended his international career after winning his second Africa Cup of Nations with the Elephants (2015, 2023).
With 112 caps and 17 goals, the former darling of Toulouse fans, now a free agent since his contract with Amed SK (Turkish 2nd division) ended in February, sees his commitment recognized by the Ivorian authorities.
During a ceremony held this week at the Sofitel Abidjan Hotel Ivoire, Max Gradel was officially designated as ambassador of tourism and leisure.
“Max Gradel deserves this recognition”
A nomination praised by the Minister of Tourism, Siandou Fofana: “Max Gradel has always proudly represented the Ivory Coast. He deserves this recognition.”
Gradel, a symbol of leadership and inspiration, was honored for his qualities of courage, resilience, and empathy, particularly embodied through his foundation dedicated to young talents.
His mission? To promote the country's appeal and attract foreign investors. “His influence is an asset for the Ivory Coast,” highlighted Elcia Grandcourt, representative of UNWTO during the ceremony.
