Absent from Guinea's national team call-ups since February 2024, Naby Keita could soon make his comeback for the Syli National.

It was back on February 2, 2024, against DR Congo in the quarterfinals of the AFCON, and since then, Naby Keita has not appeared in the Syli National shirt. With 12 goals in 58 international caps, the former Liverpool midfielder has been sidelined ever since.

Naby Keita's career took a heavy blow after he left Liverpool in 2023. He experienced a dip in form that impacted his stats significantly.

Back in Germany with Werder Bremen, he never managed to recapture his best form. On loan at Ferencváros in Hungary since last January, the Conakry native is finally starting to find his footing again.

The 30-year-old has featured in 15 matches and provided 3 assists for his Hungarian club. Some voices are calling for his reintegration into the national squad, especially as recent results have fallen short of expectations.

Keita himself is not ruling out a return. “It’s not just up to me. If it were only up to me, I’d be with the national team every day. I’ve always been available for the Syli National, and throughout my career, I’ve prioritized the national team,” he said last June.
