OL: new surgical procedure for Malick Fofana

After recently making his return to action, Malick Fofana has once again undergone surgery. According to Olympique Lyonnais, it was a minor operation, but it could rule him out for the league restart.

Malick Fofana is back in the treatment room. Olympique Lyonnais released a statement on Monday regarding their young winger. The club from Lyon specified that the player underwent a minor surgical procedure on his right ankle to remove medical hardware that had been implanted during his previous operation in October.

This is a standard post-operative procedure, which does not compromise the player’s physical integrity, but still requires a recovery period.

A recent return after a lengthy injury

Malick Fofana had been sidelined for several months following an injury sustained after a dangerous tackle by Ismaël Doukouré during a match against RC Strasbourg Alsace last October.

After a long rehabilitation, the Ivorian international made a gradual return for OL, coming off the bench against Celta de Vigo and then AS Monaco. While the Lyon club has sought to reassure fans about the minor nature of the procedure, no details have been given regarding how long Fofana will be out.

His participation in the league restart, scheduled for next weekend against Angers SCO, therefore remains uncertain.
