Robert Lewandowski does not want to play beyond the age of 40

Robert Lewandowski is gradually approaching the end of his career. In an interview with WP SportoweFakty, the Polish striker spoke for the first time about an age limit he is considering for his final years.

Lewandowski does not see himself playing after 40

The Chicago Fire striker has not completely closed the door on extending his career, but he now believes it would be difficult to imagine himself playing beyond the age of 40. “Today, I can’t imagine myself playing beyond the age of 40,” Lewandowski told WP SportoweFakty.

The Pole nevertheless clarified that he is not counting the months and days until that deadline and would rather see how his body and performances develop. He could therefore continue playing after his current contract expires, but for now he has no ambition to become a professional player at 41 or 42.

A new chapter in Chicago

This reflection comes as Lewandowski has just turned the page on his time at FC Barcelona. Last season, his final one in Catalonia, the striker scored 19 goals and provided 4 assists in 46 appearances.

After his contract with Barça expired at the end of June, the Pole chose to join Chicago Fire. He signed until mid-2028, with an announced salary of around 20 million dollars per year. His start in the United States shows, in any case, that he remains effective despite his age. Lewandowski already has 7 goals and 2 assists in 14 appearances for the American club.
