Senegal: Pape Thiaw raves about Ibrahim Mbaye
Starting and providing a decisive assist in Saturday's friendly win by Senegal’s Lions of Teranga over Peru (2-0), Ibrahim Mbaye earned high praise from his coach Pape Thiaw.
Pape Thiaw showered compliments on the young Parisian talent Ibrahim Mbaye following Senegal’s victory against Peru at the Stade de France on Saturday night.
"We know his room for improvement is huge. At 17 years old (he turned 18 in January, ed.), to win a Champions League, an AFCON for his country, it’s extraordinary—not to mention the Ligue 1 title. When I was 17, I was playing in the Gambardella," the Senegalese coach said.
Thiaw added: "He’s with an excellent club. He’s doing great things under a top coach (Luis Enrique) from whom he’s learning a lot, and he’s surrounded by an extraordinary group both in the national team and at his club. I’ve been following this kid for quite a while. His performance was solid, even though there are things to improve—as is the case for everyone."
