South African winger Kurt Abrahams found the back of the net as his team, SK Beveren, secured a 2-0 win over Francs Borains in the Belgian First Division B.

The 29-year-old broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute, before Lennart Mertens put the game to bed 24 minutes later.

With the win, Beveren remained 12 points clear at the summit of the Challenger Pro League, having picked up 63 points in 23 league outings.

Notably, Beveren have one game in hand over second-placed Cassius Mailula's KV Kortrijk and third-placed K. Beerschot V.A, who signed Siviwe Magidigidi last month.

Meanwhile, Abrahams has now scored eight goals and provided two assists in 24 matches across all competitions - with six of the goals racked up in the last eight appearances.

The Cape Town-born attacker, who spent most of his career with different clubs in Belgium, is in the final six months of his contract, but the club retains a one-year option.

Abrahams will be eager to maintain his red-hot goal-scoring form when Beveren tackle Patro Eisden on Sunday, 22 February.
