After a nail-biting finish and a thrilling penalty shootout, PSG overcame Arsenal in Budapest. The Parisians retain their title as champions of Europe.

Paris Saint-Germain has held onto its European crown. In a breathless final played in Budapest, Luis Enrique's men edged out Arsenal in a penalty shootout (4-3) after 120 minutes ended in a deadlock (1-1).

The match actually started perfectly for the Gunners. In the 6th minute, Kai Havertz capitalized on a fortunate rebound to beat Safonov with a superb strike, giving the Londoners the lead. Despite PSG's clear territorial dominance, Arsenal managed to hold on to their advantage until the break. The Parisians finally broke through in the 64th minute thanks to Ousmane Dembélé, who converted a penalty won by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia after Mosquera's foul inside the box.

PSG keeps its European throne

Despite chances on both sides, neither the 90 regulation minutes nor extra time could separate the two teams. It all came down to penalties to decide the 2026 European champions.

More composed in the shootout, the Parisians saw Gonzalo Ramos, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi, and Lucas Beraldo all find the net. For the Londoners, Viktor Gyökeres, Declan Rice, and Gabriel Martinelli converted their attempts, but misses from Eberechi Eze and Gabriel ultimately proved costly for Mikel Arteta's side.

With this 4-3 shootout triumph, PSG clinches its second consecutive Champions League title and cements its status as the new benchmark in European football.
