Wissa Goes Public: "Brentford Blocking My Move to Newcastle"

Brentford forward Yoane Wissa's gone public with his desire to leave the club accusing the Bees of blocking his transfer to Newcastle United despite what he insists have been "fair offers" all summer.

The Statement

In emotional message posted on social media just hours before the transfer deadline, Wissa said he'd been promised he could leave if reasonable offer arrived .. a pledge he claims was also given to him in writing.

"I want to make it clear that I want to leave Brentford. The club're unduly standing in my way despite series of fair offers. I was assured I would be allowed to go this summer if suitable bid was made" the Congolese international wrote.

Newcastle’s Offers Rejected

Newcastle're believed to have submitted two formal bids including one worth 35m sterling pound plus £5m in add ons.

However Brentford've turned both down with reports suggesting their asking price has jumped from £40m to £65m in recent weeks.

The situation has left Wissa frustrated. The 28 year old who scored 19 Premier League goal last season, has been training away from the 1st team and removed all Brentford references from his social media profiles.

Broken Promises?

Wissa insists he hasn't acted unprofessionally and maintains "total respect" for Brentford’s supporters. But he argues the club’s stance has changed dramatically.

"Earlier this summer, I held open discussions with the club’s management. It was confirmed that they would not stand in my way if reasonable offer was received. Yet as the window ends, that promise hasn't been fulfilled" he added.

The saga comes at time when Newcastle striker Alexander Isak's also pushing for an exit hoping to force move to Liverpool.

Brentford, meanwhile have already sold Bryan Mbeumo to Man United for £65m this summer & signed Dango Ouattara from Bournemouth for club record £42.5m.

The transfer deadline closes at 18:00 GMT on Monday .. with Wissa openly demanding resolution, the final hours of the window're set to be tense as Brentford weigh whether to cash in or risk keeping unhappy player.
