Group A of the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations features the host nation Morocco, who will be up against Algeria, Senegal, and Kenya. The tournament will run from July 26 to August 19.

The teams in Group A

Morocco, as hosts, are making their fifth appearance at the Women’s AFCON. Their best performances have been two finals, both lost, in 2022 and 2024.

Algeria are set for their seventh Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, with their best run being a single quarter-final appearance in 2024. They booked their ticket by defeating Cameroon (2-1, 1-0) in the second qualifying round.

Senegal, twice quarter-finalists in 2022 and 2024, are playing their fourth Women’s AFCON. The Lionesses had to battle hard, edging out Côte d’Ivoire in a penalty shootout (0-0, 5-4 on pens) to qualify.

Eliminated in the first round in 2016, Kenya will be making just their second Women’s AFCON appearance. They secured their place by knocking out Gambia (3-1, 1-0) in the second round of qualification.
