While Gianni Infantino had already confirmed Iran's presence at the 2026 World Cup this summer, the FIFA president has now also certified that the Iranian team's matches will indeed be held in the United States, not in Mexico.

"I've seen the team, I've spoken to the players and the coach, so everything is fine. (...) The matches will take place where they're supposed to, according to the draw," the Swiss-Italian-Lebanese head of world football's governing body told AFP.

As a reminder, during the group stage, Iran will take on New Zealand and Belgium in Los Angeles, before facing Egypt in Seattle.
