Algerian striker Mohamed Amine Amoura has issued an apology to Congolese fans on Instagram after the controversy surrounding his celebration following Algeria's qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals against the DRC.

Amoura explained that Tuesday's match unfolded in an atmosphere of extreme intensity, filled with tension, passion, and emotion on the pitch. He emphasized that, at the time, he was unaware of the symbolic significance of the person present in the stands.

The VfL Wolfsburg forward stated:

The match against Congo was a big game, incredibly intense, with a lot of tension and emotion on the pitch.

I want to make one thing clear: at that moment, I had no idea what the person or the symbol present in the stands represented. I just wanted to tease, in a lighthearted spirit, with no ill intentions or desire to provoke anyone.

I respect Congo and their team. Honestly, I wish them the best and hope they qualify for the World Cup.

If my behavior was misunderstood, I sincerely regret it, as it was never my intention.

I'm staying focused on the pitch and on representing my country with pride.

Tahia Djazair!!!

In the same context, and according to information reported by Mauritanian journalist Lassana Camara, the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) has extended an official invitation to the Congolese supporter known for embodying the historical figure of Patrice Lumumba, famous for his motionless stance during matches, resembling a statue.

This initiative includes his visit to the Marriott in Rabat, where the Algerian delegation is staying—a powerful and highly symbolic gesture that illustrates sportsmanship, mutual respect, and African brotherhood between the two nations.
