Beşiktaş issues an ultimatum to Mohamed Salah!

After three meetings, Beşiktaş has suspended negotiations with Mohamed Salah. Financial demands have stalled the deal, though the door remains open for now.

The Mohamed Salah saga has taken yet another twist. While a deal with Beşiktaş had been reported, the Istanbul club has now put talks on hold. Free since the end of his spell with Liverpool, the Egyptian international has not reached a financial agreement with the Turkish management.

Finances tip the balance in negotiations

Önder Özen, Beşiktaş's football director, confirmed he personally took part in discussions with the former Roma player. "We met Salah three times before tackling the financial side of the negotiations. Up to that point, everything was going smoothly. When financial matters came up, that initial smoothness disappeared."

The disagreement isn't just about the player's salary. There were reportedly particularly high demands regarding image rights and commissions for his representatives. "The club has a policy and cannot deviate from it. Our president has made his position very clear and has stuck to it," Özen explained.

A final offer still on the table

Unlike a definitive break, Beşiktaş has not completely withdrawn their proposal. The club would be willing to revive the deal if Salah accepts the terms already offered, but will not make any further financial improvements.

"Beşiktaş will make no other offer. The last proposal we made to Salah is the final one, and it will not compromise the club's identity," the official insisted. Meanwhile, Salah's camp has reportedly informed the Turkish side of talks with other suitors, even as a decision on his future was said to be imminent.

Salah remains a massive sporting and commercial opportunity

At 34, the Egyptian is still one of the most prestigious free agents on the market. Over nine seasons at Liverpool, he scored 257 goals and provided 120 assists in 442 appearances, winning, among other honors, two Premier League titles and a Champions League.

Beşiktaş saw his signing as both a sporting and commercial project, counting on shirt sales and leveraging his global image. However, the current breakdown in negotiations shows the club's refusal to jeopardize its financial stability, even for one of the greatest African players in history.
