Bouna Sarr, a sad end to the career of an African champion

After suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee during training on December 1, 2023, the Senegal international (13 caps) has not played since. It was a turning point in his career; despite fighting for nearly two years to return, he could not make it back.
According to British outlet SportsBoom, the Lyon-born player is considering calling it quits. While not yet official, this decision marks a sad conclusion for a player who was at his peak less than two years ago.

Having played for Metz and Marseille before joining Bayern Munich in Germany, Bouna Sarr won three Bundesliga titles, a German Supercup, and the 2020 FIFA Club World Cup.
Even though he did not feature in many matches for the Lions of Teranga, he was part of the squad that claimed the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
