Breaking: Marc Casadó undergoes surgery following injury

Since arriving at Deportivo Alavés on loan on September 2nd, Marc Casadó has enjoyed an impressive run in La Liga with his new team, though things haven't gone exactly as he had hoped.

Last Sunday, during the Matchday 7 game against Real Betis, Casado suffered a shoulder injury that forced him to leave the pitch immediately; he is currently at the HM Modelo Hospital in A Coruña.

Deportivo Alavés confirms Casado is undergoing surgery

The Galician club has since issued an official medical report confirming that the procedure was carried out by traumatologist Rafael Arriaza, though the exact duration of Casadó's spell on the sidelines will hinge on how his recovery unfolds. With injuries of this nature typically ruling players out for one to two months, Deportivo now faces a considerable stretch without one of the key figures they brought in during the summer.

The circumstances are especially harsh for the 22-year-old Spaniard, who, after slipping down the pecking order at Barcelona, made the move to the newly promoted side on loan until June 2027, complete with a €30 million buy option, eager to reignite his career as a regular starter.

A product of La Masia, Casadó joined Barcelona back in 2016 and steadily rose through the ranks, eventually captaining the club's under-19 side before going on to make 75 first-team appearances for the Blaugrana.

During his time at the Catalan giants, he collected two La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups. His absence now comes as a significant setback for Deportivo, who have made an encouraging return to the top flight and had quickly come to rely on the midfielder as a vital presence in their engine room.
