Algeria's elimination by Nigeria (0-2) this Saturday in the quarter-finals of CAN 2025 did not end peacefully. At the final whistle, the accumulated frustration of the Fennecs boiled over into palpable tension, fueled by refereeing that was hotly contested throughout the match.

Dissatisfied, several Algerian players first approached the refereeing team, before the situation escalated into altercations between the two sides. The most striking scene involved Luca Zidane, visibly furious, having a heated exchange with a Nigerian player under the stunned gaze of the crowd.

Although calm was eventually restored after the intervention of the staff, the incident cast a shadow over the end of the match. Qualified for the semi-finals against Morocco, Nigeria continues its journey, while Algeria exits the tournament on a note that is as bitter as it is tense.
