FIFA makes a radical decision on DR Congo! (Official)
The electoral process within the Congolese Football Federation has hit yet another roadblock. On March 11, 2026, FIFA officially announced the suspension of the scheduled elections across the various leagues of the Congolese Association Football Federation, citing serious financial constraints that emerged as the vote approached.

Originally slated for April 9 to 11, 2026, the electoral calendar has now been pushed back to May. The world football governing body, FIFA, aims first to stabilize the administrative and financial situation to ensure a credible electoral process that meets the strict governance standards required of all member federations.
In the meantime, the transition period will continue to be closely managed. The mandate of the normalization committee will come to an end on April 15, as planned. From that date, Secretary General Lily Tshimpumpu will oversee day-to-day operations until a newly elected executive committee is installed, while FIFA prepares a framework to clean up the federation's finances and restart the electoral process.
