La Liga: A sixth Clasico in sight for Hernández Hernández?
The Spanish press has revealed the latest information regarding the candidates shortlisted by the La Liga refereeing committee to officiate the next Clasico between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to Spanish radio station “ Marca ”, Alejandro Hernández Hernández is currently the leading candidate to referee this fixture, pending official confirmation.
La Liga leaders FC Barcelona, with 21 points, will face their great rivals Real Madrid, fourth with 15 points, on Sunday, October 25. The match will be played at Camp Nou from 20:00 GMT.
Hernández Hernández has already refereed five Clasicos between the two rivals, with a record of one Real Madrid win, two for Barça and two draws.
His first appearance in this fixture came in the 2015-2016 season, with Real Madrid winning 2-1. The following season, FC Barcelona prevailed 3-2, before the two Clasicos in 2017-2018 and 2019-2020 ended in 2-2 and 0-0 draws respectively.
The last Clasico officiated by the 43-year-old Spanish referee took place last season and ended in a 2-0 Barça victory.
Hernández's refereeing record this season
Since the start of the season, Hernández Hernández has officiated seven matches in all competitions. He has shown 37 yellow cards and four red cards, while awarding five penalties.
In La Liga, he has refereed three matches, during which he showed 17 yellow cards and two red cards, in addition to awarding three penalties.
